What should I do when I receive my plants?
-
Download our Nepenthes care sheet!
-
Download our flytrap and sundew care sheet!
-
Do your research and understand the conditions your plants require to thrive.
-
Unpack and pot up your new plants as soon as they arrive.
-
Make sure to water them and keep the humidity very high to help them recover from the stress of shipping.
-
This advice applies to pre-sale and normal listings.
-
If your plants lose their pitchers soon after arriving, don't worry! This is completely normal and they'll be back to normal soon, given proper conditions.
-
Don't hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions.
Can you hold my order for me?
-
We will hold your plant for up to one week without a charge.
-
Holding the plant beyond that period will cost $1 per day per plant. This fee must be paid before we will ship your order.
-
This policy does not apply to pre-sales, as they will be shipped out as soon as we receive the import
-
We reserve the right to hold your order if we believe conditions such as weather or postage delays could cause harm to the plants.
-
You will not be charged if a hold is placed by Red Barn Carnivores.
Can I cancel my order?
-
You can cancel your order within the same day it was ordered.
-
If your order has been shipped, we will not provide any cancellations.
-
All orders are final.
What is your return policy?
-
We guarantee live arrival of our plants, but offer no guarantees or warranties beyond live arrival.
-
Any issues with your orders must be submitted to us within 12 hours of receiving your plant/s.
-
We are not responsible for any damage caused by shipping services, stolen packages, or anything we cannot reasonably control.
-
If we are at fault, we will provide store credit for a value determined by Red Barn Carnivores, or a replacement if possible.
-
Under no circumstances do we offer cash returns.
Why hasn't my order shipped yet?
-
We only ship on Mondays and Tuesdays to avoid the risk of your plants being stuck in a warehouse over the weekend, especially if you live in a colder climate.
-
If your order has not shipped yet, please check to see if you purchased a "pre-sale" plant. If so, we won't ship your order until your pre-sale plants arrive.
-
If we shipped pre-sale and non-pre-sale plants separately, we would have to charge an additional $10 shipping or eat that cost ourselves, so it's more cost effective for everyone to ship your whole order at the same time.
-
If you did not order a pre-sale plant and your order hasn't shipped by the following Tuesday after you placed your order, please contact us at for assistance.
Pre-Sale FAQ
Where can I find Pre-Sale listings?
All pre-sale listings will be in the shop along with all of the other plants. You can filter by collection and select "Pre-Sale" to view only these listings.
How do I lock in Pre-Sale purchases?
Shop as normal. Listings will go to the first customer to check out. If there is a plant that you absolutely must have, consider putting it in your cart and checking out right away. If you end up placing multiple small orders, we'll refund the extra shipping fees.
How do Pre-Sales work?
-
When you purchase a "Pre-Sale" plant, you are agreeing to purchase a plant that Red Barn Carnivores is importing through our distributors.
-
After your order is received, we update our import order to include your plant.
-
Once the import is received by Red Barn Carnivores, we immediately ship them to you.
-
Any advertised delivery dates are only estimations, but we will do our best to stay within the timelines provided.
-
We reserve the right to hold your plant if your temperatures are unsafe, but any holds placed by us will not result in a holding fee.
-
In the event a pre-sale has to be canceled, a 20% Cancellation Fee will be assessed. Please note that once the order has been shipped to us, cancellations are no longer possible.
- It is normal for lower leaves to die off from shipping shock, as well as every pitcher on the plant. When plants go into shock from being shipped, they focus on storing energy to regrow their feeder roots, which is why you see pitchers and lower leaves begin to brown and die back in the days after you receive your plant. It is possible to mitigate this by keeping the plant in incredibly high humidity, but ultimately it is natural and your plant will begin producing normal growth again after it finishes acclimating.
When will I receive my tracking number?
In order to make the importing process as streamlined as possible, we will not send you a tracking number until your plant is packaged and on its way to you. Typically this is roughly two weeks after the pre-sale closes, not two weeks after you've placed your order.
